Scientific & Theoretical Knowledge

Physical education teacher candidates know and apply theoretical concepts critical to the development of motor skills.

During my time spent at St. Mary’s Elementary my lab group and myself would work with the different age groups, evaluating their motor/behavioral skills while getting to know them and understand how to interact with the students. Once I became more comfortable with the teacher-student environment and how to react in situations where the students do not react how I planned or do not take to my game.

My games I used during our third day going to St. Mary’s was called Cris-Cross Apple Sauce. To get the kids all excited and go along with our “Super Hero” theme, I got all of the kids attention, got down to their level as if I was going to tell them a huge surprise and told them we were going to play Spiderman’s favorite game. This got them ready to listen and find out what the game was. I described to them that they could only travel using the skills to be assessed this week; the horizontal jump, leap or slide depending on the line they were crossing or changing.
